Bar Code Laser Scanners from Symbol, PSC and Metrologic
Barcode laser scanners emit a single beam of focused light concentrated and projected into a narrow beam and in one direction,
permitting focus over a greater depth of field. Barcode laser scanners provide a great benefit in commercial and industrial
applications where rapid and accurate data collection is essential. High scan rates permit multiple scan attempts within a short time
span on sub-quality bar codes, soft or irregular surfaces, and thick or color laminates.
Barcode laser scanners are "automatic" in the sense that they produce multiple scans activated either by sensing an object that is
placed in front of the scanner (autosense) or by pulling a trigger. Trigger-type bar code laser scanners are lightweight, reliable and
activated by an elliptical scan beam which gives a high first read rate on a marginal quality bar code while maintaining excellent
accuracy. Triggerless barcode laser scanners on the other hand are activated by a bar code or reflective object passing through the
beam. This assures a high first read rate on dot matrix, thermal, laser, or color bar codes while maintaining excellent accuracy. The
triggerless laser can be easily removed from the holder and used as a hand barcode laser scanner.
A handheld bar code laser scanner has an unsurpassed first read rate, excellent depth of field, and is very accurate and quick.
Typically bar code laser scanners are equipped with a solid state visible laser diode (LVD), which defines the size of the bar code in
the transmitted beam. A focused beam bar code laser scanner is reliable and rugged.
AML also offers a range of undecoded bar code laser scanners from PSC and Metrologic. As undecoded devices, these bar code laser
scanners require an AML barcode decoder (sold separately).
