Bar Code Slot Readers and Badge Readers

Although slot readers resemble magnetic stripe readers in appearance, slot readers and badge readers are designed to only decode bar codes. The bar code slot reader and badge reader will scan bar codes on identification cards, employee badges, or tickets with a high degree of accuracy and convenience.

Bar code slot readers and badge readers are primarily used for access management and time and attendance applications. Due to low cost factors, bar code slot readers and badge readers are typically used instead of magnetic stripe readers when cards are produced for in-house or intra-company use. If first read rates are required, the bar coded card must have good print quality and the bar code must be accurately positioned on the card. Once printed, the bar coded cards at typically laminated with clear plastic to protect the printed bar code from everyday wear and tear.

AML offers a range of bar code slot readers and badge readers featuring visible red or infrared technology. Bar code slot readers and badge readers are very durable and provide excellent first read rates. As undecoded devices, bar code slot readers and badge readers require an AML bar code reader/decoder (sold separately).
